The Brampton Courthouse addition is a 6-story, 150,000 sq. ft. structure incorporating 1,010 tons of structural steel. This expansion includes new courtroom and support spaces, along with a fully developed basement. A series of walkway bridges seamlessly connect the new building to the existing courthouse, ensuring efficient functionality.
Structural steel was selected for its superior strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for the long, column-free spans essential for courtroom layouts. Additionally, the reduced dead load of steel minimized foundation requirements, offering significant cost savings compared to traditional concrete construction.
Pittsburgh Steel Group fabricated and erected the steel components utilizing state-of-the-art 3D modeling software and advanced equipment. This approach resulted in cost efficiencies, fewer errors, and enhanced on-site safety, delivering a high-quality solution for the owner.
