This landmark project presented unique challenges, including the need for expansive, column-free spaces in the gymnasium and prayer hall, as well as intricate architectural elements such as the tower and dome. The exceptional strength-to-weight ratio of structural steel made it the ideal material for achieving these requirements.
The tower and dome were expertly pre-engineered and fabricated as modular frames at Pittsburgh Steel Group’s state-of-the-art facility. Once on-site, they were meticulously assembled at ground level, ensuring precision and efficiency. The dome was completed with a metal deck, cladding, insulation, and interior drywall before being hoisted over 40 feet above ground level and securely bolted into place.
By utilizing advanced 3D modeling software and modern fabrication techniques, Pittsburgh Steel Group delivered a flawless execution of the tower and dome, eliminating errors and significantly reducing erection time and costs. This project stands as a testament to the company’s expertise in tackling complex architectural designs with precision and innovation.
